Our Targhee Top is 8 ounces (0.5 lbs) of beautful undyed Targhee wool, and is domestically processed from flocks right here in the Western USA.
At 23 microns, Targhee is classified as a fine wool and is incredibly soft. It is a resilient, elastic wool with a texture that rivals Merino.
Spinners find Targhee drafts similarly to Merino and love it for its softness. Dyers love Targhee for its ability to take color well and its matte finish. Lofty, elastic Targhee is ideal for cozy, soft and resilient fabrics that feel luxurious and wear extremely well. Targhee will also felt extremely well.
The Targhee breed was developed at the Experimental Sheep Station in Dubois, Idaho in the mid 1900's. The foundation stock were ewes of Rambouillet, Corriedale, and Lincoln bloodlines bred back to Rambouillet rams.
