How self-striping yarn works
Self-striping yarn is dyed in long, sequential color repeats along the length of a single strand, so stockinette or single crochet alone produces stripes. No carrying a second color, no Fair Isle chart.

Because the color changes are in the dye job rather than the stitch pattern, these suit simple garment shapes, accessories, and beginner projects where you want visual interest without technique. Colorways vary hank to hank even within one number, since each is hand-painted — buy what a project needs in one purchase rather than restocking later.
