Spinning and felting with Corriedale
Corriedale sits between Merino and the longwools on both softness and staple length, which is why it's a standard first-fiber recommendation. A 25–32 micron count and a long 3.5–6 inch staple make it soft enough for outerwear and accessories while being far more forgiving to draft than fine wools — the longer staple gives you time to correct a thick or thin spot before it locks into the yarn.
It takes dye evenly and richly on its natural off-white base, which shows in the range here: undyed natural top for spinners who dye their own, solid-dyed cross-combed top in individual colors, and carded sliver variety packs — Frutti Looped, Himalayan Range, Furry Friends and seasonal color stories — pre-blended for gradient or multicolor spinning.
Corriedale felts quickly and evenly thanks to its defined crimp, making it a strong choice for sculptural needle felting and for wet felting where Merino's finer crimp can be slower to full. Spun worsted-style, this top produces a durable yarn with real stitch definition, well suited to sweaters and mittens that need to hold their shape and resist pilling.
