The Revolution Fibers Blending Board gives spinners and fiber artists a controlled surface for combining colors, fibers, and textures into custom rolags. Its 30 × 30 cm working area gives you room to layer fiber deliberately, adjust the composition as you go, and prepare blends that reflect exactly what you want to spin.

Choose 72 or 108 TPI depending on the fibers you work with most. The 72 TPI version is the versatile choice for most common wool and fiber types, while the finer 108 TPI cloth is better suited to fine wool and delicate fibers.

Each board includes a dedicated blending brush and two rolag rollers, so the essential tools for building and removing rolags are already part of the setup.

Which TPI should you choose?

72 TPI - Standard

Choose 72 TPI for most common wool and fiber types. Its more open carding surface makes it the broadest general-purpose option for everyday blending and rolag preparation.

If you expect to work across a range of typical spinning fibers and want one versatile blending board, 72 TPI is the natural starting point.

108 TPI - Fine

Choose 108 TPI when fine wool and delicate fibers make up more of your fiber prep. The denser carding cloth provides a finer working surface for more delicate materials.

The right TPI is about matching the carding surface to your fiber, not choosing a higher number simply because it sounds more advanced.

Made for intentional fiber blending

A blending board gives you direct control over where individual colors, fibers, and textures are placed.

Rather than combining everything at once, you can build the blend gradually across the carding surface. This makes the board especially useful when you want visible color placement, layered effects, textured rolags, or more deliberate control over the fiber preparation that goes into your handspun yarn.

Once the fiber is arranged, use the included blending brush to work it into the carding cloth and the two supplied rollers to form and remove your rolags.

Stable on your lap or work surface

The back of the Revolution Fibers Blending Board is fitted with non-skid material to help keep the board stable whether you prefer to work with it on your lap or placed on a tabletop.

The board measures approximately 17" x 14" (42 × 35 cm) overall, with a 12" x 12" (30 × 30 cm) working carding surface.

That gives you a generous blending area while keeping the tool compact enough for hands-on fiber preparation without requiring the footprint of a drum carder.

What is included

  • Blending Board in your selected 72 or 108 TPI
  • Specialized blending brush
  • Two rolag rollers

Blending board or drum carder?

Choose the blending board when your priority is hands-on control over color, texture, and fiber placement while creating rolags.

If you want to process larger quantities of fiber into full batts, a drum carder may be the better fit. Revolution Fibers also offers the Golden Fleece Standard Drum Carder with Packer Brush and the larger Golden Fleece WIDE Drum Carder with Packer Brush.

What to know before choosing

Choose the TPI based on the fibers you expect to use most often.

The 72 TPI version is intended for most common wool and fiber types and provides the broadest general-purpose option.

The 108 TPI version is intended for fine wool and delicate fibers that benefit from a denser carding surface.

Both versions have the same board dimensions, working area, non-skid backing, and included accessories.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blending board used for?

A blending board gives you a carding surface for layering and combining fibers, colors, and textures before forming them into rolags for spinning.

Should I choose 72 or 108 TPI?

Choose 72 TPI if you work primarily with common wool and general spinning fibers. Choose 108 TPI if you work more often with fine wool and delicate fibers.

Is 108 TPI better than 72 TPI?

Not necessarily. The two densities are intended for different fibers. The better choice is the one that matches the materials you use most often.

What size is the working surface?

The carding surface measures approximately 30 × 30 cm.

What are the overall dimensions?

The board itself measures approximately 42 × 35 × 2 cm.

Can I use it on my lap?

Yes. The back of the board has a non-skid surface designed to provide stability when the board is used on your lap or on a tabletop.

Does it include a blending brush?

Yes. A specialized blending brush is included with both TPI options.

Are rolag rollers included?

Yes. Two rolag rollers are included for forming and removing rolags from the carding surface.

Do I need a drum carder too?

Not necessarily. The two tools serve different fiber-prep needs. A blending board is particularly useful when you want deliberate control over color and fiber placement while making rolags. A drum carder is better suited when your priority is processing larger amounts of fiber into batts.
