Louet Octado Loom (Dobby Weaving Loom)
Another great dobby weaving loom from Louet: 8 Shafts, 70 cm, 90 cm and 110 cm weaving width (27.5", 35.5” and 43.3”).
A dobby mechanism (programmable shaft selector) is an alternative for the tie-ups to the treadles on a standard hand weaving loom. Looms with 16 or more shafts need a dobby mechanism, because it becomes unmanageable to operate such a loom with treadles.
An 8-shafts jack loom requires an average of 40 tie-ups on the treadles. A counter marche requires 80 tie-ups. This needs to be done in a very uncomfortable position. With a dobby loom, you can say goodbye to the tie-ups!
The Louet Octado has a big counter marche shed and a very light treadling action. Again, easy on the weaver.
The Octado can be operated with a mechanical dobby, or with an electronic interface. The electronic interface works with most popular computer weaving software, including Fiberworks PCW, Patternland, PixieLoom, Weavemaker, Proweave and Weave It.
The middle section of the Octado (where all the shafts are) comes completely assembled. A detailed instruction manual will quickly guide you through the remaining setup.

The Octado loom has to be purchased with either the mechanical dobby head (shown on loom above left) or an electronic dobby head (shown on loom above right).
If you choose the electronic dobby head you have the option from several software packages that work with the Megado, such as: Fiberworks PCW, Patternland, PixeLoom Proweave Weavemaker and Weave It. The Megado interface supports both PC and Mac operating platforms.
If your choice is the mechanical dobby head you do not need any software of computer to operate this loom.
