Light. Crisp. Naturally Textured. Euroflax 16/1 is a fine, single-ply 100% linen yarn spun from blended long-line flax in Belgium. With approximately 1,225 yards per 4 oz cone (4,762 yards per pound), it offers exceptional yardage and a rustic look that’s perfect for heirloom-quality towels, scarves, napkins, and lightweight fabrics. While it starts with a firm hand, it softens and mellows with every wash—revealing the relaxed beauty only linen can offer.

What Makes Euroflax 16/1 Unique?

  • Single-Ply Structure: Offers a natural, slightly textured look with a crisp hand—ideal for rustic or heritage-inspired projects.
  • Lightweight with Long Yardage: Fine enough for lace or lightweight weaving, yet strong and structured when used as weft.
  • Blended Flax Colors: Spun with subtle variation for earthy, mineral-inspired hues that add depth to your finished work.
  • Softens with Use: Starts stiff, then becomes supple and smooth after repeated handling and washing.

Project Applications

  • Weaving: Best used as weft yarn or paired with a stronger warp like Euroflax 30/2. Suitable for towels, scarves, napkins, and summer-weight fabric. Suggested sett: 20–28 epi depending on structure (20 for soft, 24 for firm plain weave, 28 for twill).
  • Knitting & Crochet: Excellent for lace scarves, wraps, lightweight tops, or structured home goods. Use simple stitches or lace motifs; avoid ribbing or stretchy patterns.

Working With Linen

  • No Stretch: Linen lacks elasticity—work with relaxed tension and expect projects to drape and grow.
  • Warp Tips: For weaving, back-to-front warping is recommended to minimize abrasion. Mist the warp regularly to keep threads supple.
  • Stitch Consistency Comes Later: Uneven stitches will smooth out after finishing. Always wash and dry swatches to gauge final fabric behavior.
  • Join Strategically: For garments, join yarn at side seams rather than row ends to help hide linen tails in openwork fabric.

Performance Benefits

  • Breathable & Lightweight: Naturally cool against the skin and ideal for warm climates.
  • Antibacterial & Hypoallergenic: Resists odor and is safe for sensitive skin.
  • Low Static & Pill Resistant: Doesn’t cling, doesn’t fuzz, and softens with age instead of wearing out.

Sustainable & Certified

  • EUROPEAN FLAX® Certified: Grown without irrigation, GMOs, or synthetic chemicals in Western Europe.
  • Mechanically Processed: Extracted using traditional scutching without harsh chemicals.
  • Oeko-Tex Dyes: Dyed using certified safe and eco-friendly methods.
  • Biodegradable: Breaks down naturally at end of life—zero waste, zero guilt.

Caring for Linen

  • Wash: Machine or hand wash in cool to lukewarm water with mild, bleach-free detergent.
  • Dry: Tumble dry low for softness or line dry for crispness. Remove while damp to steam press.
  • Wrinkle Care: Press with steam while damp or spritz and smooth by hand. “Lazy man’s iron” works well on linen.
  • Stain Tips: Massage with dish soap and cool water. Avoid scrubbing—gently work the stain out.
