Recycled sari silk yarn and ribbon
Recycled sari silk is made from leftover silk from India's sari industry, spun or stitched into yarn and ribbon full of color. This collection includes our handspun multi-color sari silk yarn cakes, handmade sari silk chiffon ribbon, and a Mug Rugs weaving pattern that pairs Lanaloft Worsted with sari silk yarn.
How to use sari silk yarn
No two cakes are alike. Color shifts, thick and thin spots, and a bit of sheen are part of the charm, so sari silk shines where texture is the point. Try it as weft in a woven piece, as a stripe or trim in knitting and crochet, or wrapped around baskets and jewelry. The chiffon ribbon is lighter and flatter than the spun yarn and works well for tassels, gift wrap, and mixed media. Because thickness varies, swatch first if your pattern depends on gauge.
